#FISHBOWL INVENTORY TIMING OUT ON VPN UPGRADE#
There’s an upgrade system built-in, but there are no updates.

When we first got it this happened maybe twice a week, but now it happens every day. Other times an error appears and it reboots, and other times nothing works and you have to pull the power. To get it working again you have to go into the Settings menu and look for networks, which works sometimes. The device continually loses its connection to the network, and many of these times it doesn’t re-connect on its own. This device’s primary selling point is that it includes AirPlay support for remote play from your various iDevices. This is in contrast to the rest of the unit’s fit and finish, which is excellent. Moreover the buttons feel cheap, they kind of move around under your finger. From my use, it seems it needs 5 buttons at most. You have to move from one set of buttons to another as you move around the UI, and most of them seem entirely redundant. On the slight-downside side of things is the control system, which has a whopping 14 buttons. Setup was pretty straightforward, and when I put it through its paces the sound quality was fine – some reviews spoke of distortion at high volumes, but I guess I’m not playing that sort of music because the sound remains clean for me even when I crank it. So first the good news… the unit looks great and sounds great. Well this one was on sale for $99, so I jumped at it. The reviews were almost always positive with one complaint, the $349 price tag. I recently bought a while JBL On-Air speaker system so we’d have something to play music in our smallish main-level living room. In reality the speaker isn’t visible, so it looks even better than this picture. So far I’ve tried four bulbs for different fixtures, so here’s some mini-reviews. This is not a very common size for pots, and is proving difficult to replace. Mine, optionally, hold a standard light bulb, which is a 20. You may have also seen the much larger 30’s. You’ve probably seen the smaller ones with the push-n-twist fitting, those are 10’s or 16’s. The pots are currently holding halogens, but they’re ones I hadn’t used before. My home has a mixture of overhead fixtures in the upstairs area, and pots in the basement.

The only downside I’ve noticed is that they won’t dim as far as an incandescent, if an incandescent goes from 100% to 10%, an LED goes from 100% to 30%. They turn on instantly, are very bright, are dimmable with any fixture, and run super-cool. The light quality of these things is fantastic, completely indistinguishable from incandescents (look at the graphs online if you think otherwise). The long and short is that LED has come of age. Our new home was equipped almost entirely with old-school incandescents in all of the living areas, and I’ve been replacing them here and there on an experimental basis with LEDs to see if it’s worth going all in.
